Message from our Director
Planet Kids is an extension of who I am. Back in 1982 I was given an opportunity to work as a camp counsellor. It was a life changing experience as I found an environment where I was comfortable, motivated and I had the patience and personality to work with children. I spent the next 8 years employed in the summer day camp industry, developing leadership skills, organizing programs, training staff and learning the different interests and attention spans of various age groups.
At 30 years of age, in 1997, I found myself returning to the camp industry. In the summer of 1998, Planet Kids was born with thousands of families trusting Planet Kids to look after their children.
Currently. at age 46, I provide PK staff with a positive atmosphere to learn about who they are, what their strengths are and provide them with the skills necessary to be successful so that each member of the team is motivated to wake up each day looking forward to being at camp.
I am involved in every aspect of the business including staff hiring, training and supervising. Our hiring process takes more than four months to complete and is very competitive with more than 300 candidates applying each summer for 40 to 50 positions yearly. I pride myself in making sure that our staff understand our culture and vision, which sets us apart from other day camp providers. Enthusiastic staff plus creative programming equals a truly memorable experience for each camper.
Our full year-round business enables us to add and improve programs to a level that would not be possible on a seasonal basis. Our extensive menu of more than 35 summer camps programs allow every child to find something of interest to them.
We hope that you can join us at our Camp Open House at Kelso Conservation Area on Saturday May 31st from 12pm - 3pm to meet our Staff and see why we are the largest private summer day camp provider in Canada.
Yours in Health,
Jeff Deverill
